Whenever someone tells a story, it doesn’t matter the story, I always have to interrupt and ask, “Where did this happen?” I want (need) to know the setting, to understand the context, to place myself there.
Perhaps the “where” has to do with the 20+ places I’ve lived over the course of my life. And it’s curiosity that has led me to pursue jobs ranging from landscaper, egg inspector, manager of a pizza place, nurses assistant, car salesman👇, farmer, builder of prison doors, and many, many others.
Curiosity is what led me to the world of advertising more than 20 years ago (that, and I craved the validation I received when I designed something “cool”).
Advertising is all jobs crammed into one career. As a creative director I get to cultivate and inspire that curiosity in others. The “where” is what I’m always on the lookout for. It’s both a foundation and a springboard. It’s what I bring to every client relationship, every creative brainstorm, and every story being told by me and to me.
